After eighteen months of tireless work by our engineers, we have moved our backlink system to a completely new architecture.
This architecture works with a new data collection methodology that dramatically increases the speed at which we detect and report new links.

Our goal with this update was to create the best backlink tool possible, which meant two things:
Be the fastest in reporting new links e
Own the largest database of known links
After a year and a half of commitment and hard work, we have achieved both.
What has changed?
First, we audited our current link storage system and updated our user database.
So, we decided to upgrade both our hardware and how we store our data.
By completely rebuilding this tool from the ground up, we've dramatically reduced the time between when your site receives a backlink and when you can see that link brought back to Semrush.
How fast is Semrush backlink database now?
The link spotting speed of any backlink tool can be simplified into two steps:
Web crawl and backlink search
Updated public database/UI to show these new links
If you add up the median times it takes Semrush to complete steps 1 and 2, you could theoretically publish a new blog post, receive a backlink 1 minute later, and then see this new backlink reported in our tool 40 minutes after the time of publication.
